Had to Stamp Tonight!!!

So, we went to see Kung Fu Panda tonight with Amanda. This was the first time she ever went to the movies, and she did great!! We are still surprised that she sat through the whole movie and enjoyed it. Anyway, it was a really cute movie, with lots of Kung Fu in it. We had so much fun, and Eric and I havent been to the movies in who knows how long. It was nice to have a "date." Even better to have a family date!!

When we got home, I really wanted to stamp, as I havent been able to do so the past few days. I am trying to brainstorm some ideas for graduation cards. I have seven seasonal employees who are graduating this year and I wanted to make something special for them to congratulate them on their achievements and wish them well in their futures. I'm definitely liking the word possibilities found in the Unity Stamp set Butterfly Beauty. I also have a bunch of the singles with the quotes, which I may use. "Go Confidently in the direction of your dreams....live the life you've imagined." or something to that effect.

Paper: SU: Choc. Chip and Soft Sky....Anna Griffin DSP
Ink: Choc. Chip
Copics used to color in the Butterfly. White Gel pen for dots on scallop circle. Glitter on the Butterfly wings. Martha Stewart border punch: doile (this punch is so cool!!)
I smudged the "s" in possibilities when I went to emboss it, and I just couldn't toss the card. Eric yells at me for that, "why'd you throw it away, it was a perfectly good card." That's what I get from him, but I am a perfectionist and I was nervous to even post this card tonight. :)

Mojo Monday Challenge 42

I was looking at the Poetic Artistry blog today and decided to try out their Mojo Monday Challenge 42. At first glance, I thought it was going to be pretty tough getting the strips of paper to line up correctly and neatly. It took a bit of time, but wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be afterall. I did flip the sketch, however. I also made the card a 5.5X5.5 size using half inch strips placed about an eighth inch apart. The last strip, or block is of course larger, per the challenge. I had a lot of fun with the challenge.

Recipe:

Stamps: Unity- Wish....Stampin Up- Riveting

Paper: SU Pomegranate, Vanilla, Pretty in Pink...American Crafts Designer Paper (Anise)

Ink: SU Pomegranate, SU markers: Ruby Red and Old Olive (for flower stamp)

Accessories: glitter, dimensionals, pink ribbon (walmart), pearls (walmart), SU ticket punch, scallop punch, circle punches

The flower stamp was colored with SU markers Ruby Red (flowers) and Old Olive (stems). I then put a touch of glitter on the end of each flower petal. A pearl was place din the center of both flowers. The sentiment is popped up on dimensionals.

Summertime Giggle Grove

I was having some fun this afternoon playing around with some bright colors, which, for me is something totally new. I'm usually not one for bright tones, but I liked the way these all went together. Get's me in the mood for summer!!!

Recipe:

Stamps: Unity- Giggle Grove and Flirty Flowers

Paper: SU Summer Sun, Pumpkin Pie, Cameo Coral and Celery...American Crafts Designer paper

Ink: SU Chocolate Chip and Blue Bayou

Technique: I paper pieced the tree branches and birds with the American crafts DP, after stamping the images in Choc. Chip ink on the card. There is glitter around all the tree branch "balls." I used a white gel pen to highlight the H in Hello, the coral triangle and the scalloped pumpkin pie circles.

Accessories: glitter (of course), paper flowers (walmart), scallop punch from SU, pink ribbon (walmart) white gel pen, and glue dots.

This is a regular A2 size card, its just horizontal.

Well, summer is right around the corner, time to make some more bright, vivid cards. Happy Stamping!!

Happy Father's Day......

This is the Father's Day card I made for my amazing husband. It uses Stampin Up's: A Light Unto my Path stamps and All Holidays set for the sentiment. I used SU Blue Bayou, Soft Sky, Chocolate Chip and At Home Scrappin Kit for the layers. There is glitter on the "light stream" from the light house and on the waves crashing into the shore. Green Ribbon ties it together. I used the ticket corner punch, jewel brads (oriental trading) and dimensionals as well. The card size is 5.5 X 5.5. Thanks for looking and Happy Stamping. Scrappin' the Night Away.........

Here it is, I'm up late again, scrappin the night away, but its ohhhhhhhh so much fun!! I had a lot of fun making this page tonight, as I tried a few new things, such as photo hinges and hidden journaling. I also inked those brackets right on the picture, which I was so completely nervous about (afraid of getting smudgies on a good pic, EEEK!!). This picture is from one of our recent trips to Ringwood State Park in NJ. We went to the Skylands Botanical Gardens to view all the beautiful spring flowers. This is an 8X8 page- for some reason I have been sticking to this size lately. I used to do all 12X12 pages, but this size is sticking with me. I used SU Wasabi, Pomegranate, Vanilla and River Rock paper and SU Wasabi and Pomeganate Ink. Also used is the ticket corner punch and the sprial punch (notebook paper look). Stamps used are Unity's: Me Myself and I kit, and the Beauty of Dreams single stamp.
To do the hidden journaling, I scored the far right line on the "me, myself and I" stamped image (leave enough room when you are cutting it so there is a good 1/4 inch margin to score). When you are done scroing the line, fold it back. You will only put glue on this small margin when adhering it to the page. (Lightly trace a line underneath the image onto the base cardstock, this will help you keep your journaling under the image and not spill out on the sides.) I punched notebook paper with the sprial punch from SU down the left side. The image is connected to the base cardstock with the photo hinges and the small margin that is glued down.
I stamped the brackets right onto the photo, with pink chalk ink and sprinkled glitter on it before it dried. The beauty of dreams stamp was stamped in both Pomegranate and Wasabi ink on Vanilla paper and then cut strips of the stamp and adhered them to the page.
This was a real fun page for me to make tonight and I still cant believe I went beyond what I normally do with scrapping pages. So you may see some new innovations now that I'm not so scared (haha).

Dont Grow Up So Fast, Kiddo!!

I have been wanting to make a page using this picture, since I took it, in early May. Today's scrapbook challenge on the Unity forum at Splitcoast made me do, just that.
So, I admit, I am having issues this year with my little girl's birthday. She is turning 3!! Where did the time go?? It's really freaking me out. I feel like we just came home from the hospital with her, and now she is climbing trees? Oh wow, I guess this is only the beginning. The journey is truly amazing and I thank the Lord every single day for bringing her into our life. The photo on this page made me reflect on this already 3 year journey and helped me journal on how amazing it's been and much we cherish our daughter.
For this page, I used: SU Vanilla CS as the base of the page... American crafts double sided designer paper for the pink circles (cut with the SU Scallop punch) and the PolkaDot layer and pink layer..... Unity Stamps: Flirty Flowers for all of the stamping on this page....a white gel pen for the faux stitching around the photo and the word "grow," and for the dots on the scallop circles.....Copics to color the images....little pearls for some of the small flowers. AND.....GLITTER on the cute little birdie's wings. The Flirty Flowers set is so adorable and so versatile. It can be used for cards, pages, altered projects, pretty much anything you can think of. Pretty much all of Unity's stamps are like that, and that's why I LOVE using them!!!

You are My Sunshine!!

From the minute I laid eyes on the "you are my sunshine" stamp in the Flirty Flowers set by Unity Stamps, I thought about my daughter, Amanda. She always sings this song to me and I just melt. She is going to be 3 next month and she is quite the performer, always singing songs or dancing around the house. She is the inspriation for this card.
I used SU paper: Summer Sun, Only Orange and Black. Also used is American Crafts Designer paper. I used jewel brads (Oriental Trading) for the accents and the ticket corner punch from SU. I used lots of layers on this card and I am surprised at how it all "pops." AND....you guessed it...GLITTER on the sun. Thanks so much for stopping by, off to make some more.................

SCS Double Diagonal Pocket Card

I made this card using the Splitcoast tutorial for the Double Diagonal Pocket card, which was showcased earlier this week on the website. I really enjoy making this new style card, it's simple and elegant!! I used Unity Stamps: Butterfly Beauty. This is an awesome set and very versatile. There are 5 different (and did I mention, huge??) butterflies in the set, along with several sentiment words, one being, "beauty," which you see here. The paper is SU Designer Paper: Wintergreen. I made the tags from scratch, basically by measuring the pockets and using layers. I used the SU scallop punch for the half circles and white organza ribbon for the ties. Of course the Butterfly is glittered up, (since I love my glitter and use it on pretty much all my projects) as well as the scallops on the beauty circle. I used Copics and the colorless blender to color the butterfly image. I will definitely be making more of these diagonal pocket cards! Its so HOT in NJ the past two days, its nice to escape to the stamp room downstairs and stay cool. Happy Stamping!!

Dates to Remember Book

This is my take on Unity's Project Thursday, the Dates to Remember book, which the tutorial can be found here. This was such an awesome project posted by Design Team member Brooke Lein.
It was not as tedious as I thought it was going to be, and it was actually quite fun to make. I started working on it really late last night, and finished it this evening. (I think if I sat down and worked on it continuously, it would have only taken about an hour to an hour and a half)
I called the book "celebrate" because most of the dates you try to remember are celebrations of some sort: birthdays, anniversaries, etc.

The book covers are 6x6 and all the pages are 51/2 X5 1/2. I tied my book together with white organza ribbon, opposed to using binder rings as described in the tutorial (only because I did not have any handy at the time, and I really wanted to make this.) This is a really great gift idea for family and friends. The supplies used: SU Pure Pomegranate and Berry Bliss DP (on covers), Unity Stamp "celebrate" (form Sentiments O'Simple set), Paper flowers pieced together with Jewel Brads (brads and flowers from Oriental Trading), and white organza ribbon for the ties. For the pages, I used the calendar printouts that can be found on the tutorial, and I used SU colored paper with American Crafts and SU Designer Papers for the layering strips.
I have included some close ups of the inside pages, as well as a view of all of the pages.
I will definitely be making many more of these books. They are really cute gifts, oh yeah, I already said that! AND.....I LOVE Unity Stamps, oh yeah, I said that too. :)

Howdy Partners!!

I have been wanting to scrap these pictures since last halloween! Amanda dressed up as a cowgirl and just melted her father and I. The Big Red Hat and the scarf were some of the best features in my opinion. For this layout, I used Unity Stamps: I Wanna Be a Cowboy. I used SU paper: Real Red, Black and Vanilla. I put microbeads on the horeseshoe and also pierced around the horseshoe. I have a few more pictures from Halloween 2007, and I will definitely be using this set again. Thanks for stopping by.

Have a Drink and Kick Back!!

I love this set! Its Unity's "Fun Night Out." I had fun with the drink, I made it pink 'cause I'm in a Cosmo mood. :) The drink is colored with Copics and the pink part is glittered (hope it shows up in the picture), for some bling. I used Cameo Coral SU Paper and SU Ginger Blossoms DP. This is the criss cross card techinique, found at Splitcoaststampers. I hope Unity comes out with some more "Drinks." Nature Endures

Just another card I was developing tonight. I love this stamp set, it's Unity's Lilypad Playland. I had fun making this card, I love anything outdoors themed, and it was fun picking out colors for the card. This stamp set is great because you can stamp the images, and then color them in, whatever colors you want. You are not limited to your outline ink color!! I also pierced the dots on the dragonfly flight to the top of the card. I thought Endure was a good sentiment for this card. I will definitely be getting alot of use out of this set!! Tis the Season for Weddings.......

Trying to create some cards, as I have been so busy with scrapbook pages lately. So, its totally wedding season, and I had the Unity Stamps Simple Pleasures set staring me in the face, with that adorable wedding cake stamp!!! I thought... Ah-Haaaa, weddings coming up around the corner...time to make cards. This is what I came up with.

Unity's Simple Scrapbook Challenge USS02

I was bouncing between my two favorite sites this morning (Unity and Splitcoast) and came across this Scrapbook challenge on Splitcoast and decided to give it a try. I used the following supplies: Paper Reflections (Bluebell), Creating Keepsakes DP, SU Ribbon (Wasabi and Blue Bayou) Unity Stamps- Beach Day and Simple Pleasures, SU Blue Bayou Ink, Circle Punches, Notebook Punch (SU). This was a really great scrapbook challenge. I have to say these Unity Stamps have me scrapping like crazy the past few days. I had been in a lull for so long, and I think its because I felt I had to scrap chronologically. Now i am just pulling pictures out of their safely protected places and matching them up with these lovely stamp sets. AND, I am having SOOOOOOO much fun!! Yeah! Back to Scrapping.......
